In the tradition of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), which encourages people to write 50,000 word novels in a month, we at the Ropecast in collaboration with Twisted Monk are launching:
GLOROMO: Global Rope Month. As a community, can we tie 50,000 feet of rope in a month? That’s about 8 suspensions a day, folx…
To participate, all you need to do is a tie–not just suspensions, anything with a legal-age consenting adult in it (creativity (and nudity) encouraged). Take a picture of said tie, with a sign in it that says “GloRoMo” (a downloadable version of the logo will be coming soon, I swear!) and the number of feet of rope you used. Email that picture to graydancer@gmail.com .
Yes, we’ll use the honor system. Don’t cheat! Your picture will be posted in a gallery on http://www.graydancer.com , and you’ll get a sticker for participating!
Not enough? Damn. I thought the stickers would be neat. Monk, however, has decided to sweeten the deal.
Every participant will be entered in a raffle for a $100 gift certificate to Twisted Monk to be given away on December 1.
In addition, the Gallery allows people to vote for their favorite tie–and the winner of the GloRoMo People’s Choice will get a $50 gift certificate.
In ADDITION: Each week will have a theme, a GloRoMo Challenge. These pics will be put in a special gallery, and reviewed by a Secret Panel of Judges. On Nov. 7, 14, 21, and 28, a winner of each week’s challenge will be announced and a $25 gift certificate given to them. The theme of the first week, in honor of Bridgett Harrington, is ASSYMETRY.
I’m only one of the judges, so bribery would not be effective. Appreciated, but not efficient.
There will also be schwag, etc. put out over the course of the month to participants who show extraordinary zeal (or lots of skin) in their efforts.
So, Go Out and GloRoMo!!
